CELEBRATING KAURI MONTHLY PHOTO
The "Kauri Dieback Management Programme" ("the
Programme") is a common initiative by the Ministry for
Primary Industries, the Department of Conservation, Northland
Regional Council, Waikato Regional Council, Bay of Plenty Regional
Council, Tāngata Whenua and Auckland Council ("the Partner
Agencies") to protect high value areas and iconic kauri
Auckland Council is managing this Competition, on behalf of the
Programme, in order to further raise public awareness to help stop
the spread of the kauri dieback. The Programme is funding all
prizes associated with the Competition.
By entering this Competition, entrants are deemed to have read,
understood and accepted the following terms and conditions:
1. The Competition is for the best monthly
picture celebrating a kauri tree ("the Picture").
2. To enter, entrants must post their picture(s)
to the Kauri Dieback Management Programme's Facebook
page ("the Facebook Page"). The Competition will
run every month, commencing on the 1st of every month.
3. The Pictures must show a kauri tree and be at
least 1MB in size, but not larger than 12MB each. Each entrant can
submit up to 3 pictures per month. If an entrant submits more than
3 pictures or a picture larger than 12 MB, the entrant will be
disqualified for that month.
4. Entries for the respective month must be
submitted at the latest by 12pm on the last day of the month.
Entries received after that time will automatically go into the
draw for the next month.
5. Every picture will be moderated and any
picture with inappropriate content will be excluded and the entrant
disqualified from the Competition.
6. Every entrant warrants that submitted
pictures do not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral
rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights
of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right,
title, claim, or interest in the picture(s) submitted. The
Programme reserves the right to remove any picture(s) and
disqualify the respective entrant immediately if it has reason to
believe that publication of the picture would be in breach of a
third party's copyright or any other right or claim.
7. By entering the Competition, entrants warrant
that all information submitted by them is true, current and

8. The Competition is open to members of the
public aged 18 years and over.
9. Each month one winner will be selected. The
winner's name will be published on the Facebook Page on the first
week day of each month. The winner will be contacted by private
message on Facebook.
10. If the winner does not respond to the
message within 72 hours, another winner will be selected.
11. The decision by the Programme is final and
no correspondence will be entered into.
12. The prizes for the monthly winner(s) will be
a cleaning kit, a Kauri Dieback Programme branded t-shirt or a
Kauri Dieback Programme branded cap.
13. In December 2014 an overall winner and
runner up will be selected from all entrants who have submitted
pictures during the year. That winner will receive a Canon Powershot sx280 camera (valued at
$316.82) and the runner up will receive a $50 Bivouac Outdoors
14. Prizes are not redeemable for cash, are not
transferable to any other person, and cannot be used in conjunction
with any other offer or promotion.
15. If any of the prizes become unavailable (for
any reason), the Programme reserves the right to provide the winner
with a substitute prize.
16. The information provided on the Facebook
Page will be used to contact the winner. In addition, all winners
consent to the Programme using their picture(s) for promotional
purposes to be displayed on the Programme website
(www.kauridieback.co.nz), the Facebook Page and other media.
17. All winners also consent to participate and
co-operate as required in all promotional activities relating to
the Competition by the Programme and its Partner Agencies.
18. Submitted pictures will not be returned or
deleted. All entrants and winners agree to provide the Programme
with an unlimited, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free and
non-exclusive license to reproduce, distribute, display, and create
derivative works of the pictures (along with a name credit) in
connection with the Competition and promotion of the Programme.
19. All information provided by the entrants
will be collected, used, stored, disclosed and corrected in
accordance with the Privacy Act 1993. All entrants have the right
to access their information and request for any personal
information to be corrected.
20. The Programme would like to receive pictures
from as many people as possible. Apart from the winning pictures,
the Programme might also publish other submitted pictures on its
website and the Facebook Page which comply with these Terms and
Conditions. However, the following persons are not eligible to win
a. Anyone under the age of 18 at the time of
entering the competition.
b. Anyone not resident in New Zealand at the
time of the selection.
c. Anyone who works for the Programme and their
immediate family members.
21. The Programme reserves the right to exclude
any entrant from participating in the Competition at its sole
discretion. It also reserves the right to refuse to award a prize
to an entrant who is in breach of these Terms and Conditions,
gained an unfair advantage in participating in the competition or
won a prize by using fraudulent means.
22. The Programme will not be liable for any
claims for loss, damage or injury whatsoever or for any physical or
mental injury suffered by the winner(s) as a result of or in
connection with the Competition or due to any prizes won in the

by and construed in accordance with the laws of New Zealand and
shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of New Zealand
